Comments : so pleased to see someone promoting the bear coat. I am a vet and have just taken on a gorgeous bear coat puppy. I am so disappointed to see that something which is a recessive trait is being frowned on by the powers that be. surely in a breed like the shar pei, where the gene pool is narrow, something so innocuous as coat length shouldn't be undesirable. if we cut out all bear coat carrying matings, then we'll narrow the gene pool down further! stupid people! i love my bear. he's gorgeous.

Comments : I rescued my first shar 6 yrs ago he was 10, lived to be 15, loved him so much, i started doing shar rescue. I run a no kill shelter and right now have 4 wonderful shar's there. although a bit hard to place they are well worth the efforts. your site was very informative for me, as far as how they came to be over here etc. My boy sealy at the shelter reminds me of one of the first ones that were brought over here, not the prettiest but has great personality!
